Beth Shak and Beth Shak Couture Designer on the Platform of Her Own Collection
Beth Shak’s name is synonymous with shoes, and oodles of them. Known internationally for her impressive shoe collection, Shak has amassed closets full of one-of-a-kind styles from some of the world’s most elite and sought-after designers. Her impeccable footwear style, and shopping savvy, have placed her prominently on display; and now Shak is debuting her own eponymous collection for women desiring a piece of luxury.
Shak is a native of the suburbs of Philadelphia, where she developed a love for fashion at an early age. Drawn to the world of style as a young woman, she had a vintage and couture private clothing business for ten years. While Shak has no formal training in design, she did study art and graphic design before leaving college to have her first son, and grew up always sketching and drawing. States the designer, “A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new” – this is my favorite quote from Albert Einstein…and if anyone knows shoes, it is me! I am thrilled to bring this collection to my fans and women everywhere.”
She's made 3 Word Series of Poker final tables and has thirteen tournament cashes to her name, placing her amongst the top percentile of the Women's All Time Money List. At her first final table, she lost to Jennifer Tilly in 2005. At the 2007 World Series of Poker Shak placed 2nd (out of over 800 players) in the $3K No-Limit Hold ‘em event. She also placed in the 2009 7 card stud event in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Dressed in a curve-hugging dress and her “Anna” shoes, from the Beth Shak Couture Collection, these attention-grabbers are adorned with a Swarovski crystal evil eye, a symbol Beth loves, they are 150 mm’s done in a blue Nappa leather with a platform. Filled with passion for her work and life, this mother of three and teacup Yorkie Sabine, a purchase from Paris, is extremely philanthropic, giving back regularly to her community and at large. “While I have been fortunate, I have also had struggle and loss in my life too. Philanthropy not only benefits others, it feels right too,” states Beth.
Caring, optimistic and full of life, the designer loves to collect shoes, as the story has it. “My favorite piece is my Elizabeth Taylor boots, which are poker themed. They are for display only and definitely an investment piece,” states Shak. She loves to unwind with a decadent massage, but her true love comes in the form of cooking. “Five nights a week, I am in my kitchen. I absolutely love it and my favorite dish to make is eggs benedict.” She is drawn to the shade of lavender and lavender roses. “Perhaps it is the relaxing vibe the color gives off,” she muses. She flashes a smile as she tells of her love of artists Andy Warhol and Marilyn Minter, whom she has met, and her life-long inspiration Coco Chanel. For her brand, Shak was inspired by the women in her personal and professional life, as witnessed in her debut collection.
